McKinney ISD has made difficult budget decisions, reduced expenses, improved efficiencies, and lowered the total tax rate. The November 2026 election includes one VATRE proposition and four bond propositions addressing classroom funding, teachers and staff, aging facilities, safety, technology, career and technical education, and enrollment growth.
A Lower Tax Rate
The total tax rate will be lower than last year.
In August 2026, McKinney ISD lowered its total tax rate by almost 4 cents. All five propositions can be funded within that lower rate.

What Voting YES will fund
Vote for Proposition A
Fund teachers and classrooms.
Proposition A will fund:
- Competitive teacher salaries so McKinney ISD can recruit and keep the best educators for our kids.
- Closing the final budget gap without cutting teachers or student programs.
- Keeping the teachers, counselors and instructional aides our students count on every day.
- Funding the programs and services families rely on every day.
- Maintaining transportation and student programs districtwide.
Vote for Proposition B
Fund new schools, upgrades at existing campuses, safety and security, and buses.
Proposition B will fund:
- Replacing aging building systems before they fail our students and staff.
- Planned maintenance instead of expensive crisis repairs.
- Stronger school safety and security measures, including upgraded cameras, alert systems and emergency communications districtwide.
- Modernizing learning spaces at older campuses.
- Lowering long-term costs by installing efficient systems that reduce operating expenses.
- Building two new elementary schools where McKinney ISD is growing fastest.
- Making a smarter regional investment by building one shared CTE Center with Collin College.
- Providing safer transportation by replacing school buses on a planned schedule rather than after they break down.
Vote for Proposition C
Fund instructional technology equipment.
Proposition C will fund:
- Giving every student access to modern, reliable technology.
- Planned device replacement instead of buying all devices at one time.
Vote for Proposition D
Fund repairs at the existing training pool used by all three high schools.
Proposition D will fund:
- Repairing pool cracks and failing systems in the district's existing training pool.
Vote for Proposition E
Fund repairs at McKinney ISD Stadium and Ron Poe Stadium.
Proposition E will fund:
- Replacing the turf at McKinney ISD Stadium so the field stays safe for students.
- Resurfacing the track at Ron Poe Stadium so it stays safe for student-athletes.

The 2026 election calendar
October 5, 2026 (Monday)
Last day to register to vote (registration, or an update to an existing registration, must be completed 30 days before Election Day).
October 19, 2026 (Monday)
Early voting begins; in-person early voting opens. A registered voter may vote early at any early-voting location in the county. Check locations below.
October 30, 2026 (Friday)
Early voting ends, which is the final day of the early-voting period.
November 3, 2026 (Tuesday)
Election Day, 7 a.m.–7 p.m. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and a voter in line by 7 p.m. is entitled to vote.

Your ballot will contain five propositions for McKinney ISD. Voters have the opportunity to vote on all five propositions.
Early voting runs October 19–30 and Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, with polls open 7 a.m.–7 p.m.

By mail: Available to voters who qualify (including voters 65 or older or with a disability). The application must be received by October 23.
